Web Design — Hero
Web design & development

Most websites are judged on how they look. Yours will be judged on what it earns.

We build custom sites for businesses that are already spending on traffic and losing it at the door. Fast, accessible, structured so search engines and AI assistants can actually read them and measured against conversions, not compliments.

Web Design — Where Sites Lose Money
Where sites lose money

A site that looks fine can still be the most expensive thing you own.

Nobody redesigns because the site is ugly. They redesign because leads dried up, the phone stopped ringing, or a competitor with a worse offering started outranking them. The cause is almost never the visual design.

Four things quietly do the damage.

  • It's slow, and you stopped noticing

You load your own site from cache on office wifi. Your customer loads it cold on a phone. Google measures the second version and so does the visitor who leaves before the hero image appears.

  • Machines can't read it

Search engines and AI assistants parse structure, not aesthetics. Without semantic markup and schema, a beautiful site is invisible to the systems now deciding who gets recommended.

  • It's inaccessible, and that's a legal exposure

Web accessibility lawsuits under the ADA have become routine, and most target sites that could have been compliant with decisions made during the build. Retrofitting costs several times more.

  • Traffic arrives with nowhere to go

Paid campaigns dropping visitors on a homepage, no clear next action, forms that ask for eleven fields. You're paying for the click and then discarding it.

What we build

Nine ways in. One standard.

Whatever the platform, the requirements don't move: it loads fast, it's readable by machines, it works for everyone, and it converts.

Web Design — Custom vs Template
The honest comparison

When a template is the right answer.

Sometimes it is. If you need a presence page and you're not spending on traffic, a good template will serve you. The difference starts to matter once the site has a job to do.

Factor Template build Custom build
Upfront cost Low - often under $1,000 Higher - starts around $5,000
Speed Carries code for features you don't use Only what your site needs, so it loads faster
SEO control Heading and schema structure often fixed Full control of markup and structured data
Accessibility Varies; usually needs remediation WCAG designed in from the wireframe
Scaling Hits a ceiling, then needs migration Modular - new features plug in
Right for Presence sites, early-stage, low traffic Sites carrying paid traffic or real revenue

Web Design — Accessibility

Accessibility is cheaper to build than to retrofit

Web accessibility lawsuits under the ADA have become routine, and the majority target sites where compliance would have been straightforward during the build. Remediating a finished site typically costs several times what designing it correctly would have.

We build to WCAG 2.2 as standard: screen-reader-tested markup, full keyboard navigation, contrast ratios that pass, and captions on video. The same structure that helps a screen reader also helps a search crawler which is why accessible sites tend to rank better. We're not attorneys, and this isn't legal advice about your obligations.

Web Design — FAQ
Questions

Before you call.

How much does a custom website cost?

Most builds start at $7,500 for a small to mid-sized business site. Sites carrying paid traffic, eCommerce, or CRM integration usually land in the $15,000+ range, and enterprise builds with custom APIs or multi-location systems can exceed $50,000. You'll get a fixed quote after discovery we don't start work against an estimate.

How long does it take?

Three to twelve weeks for most custom builds: roughly one week of discovery, one to two on architecture, two on design, four to five on development, and one to two on QA. Simpler sites can ship in three to four weeks. The most common cause of delay is waiting on content and approvals, so we tell you exactly what we need and when.

Can I update the site myself afterwards?

Yes. We build on WordPress, Shopify, or Webflow depending on what fits, and you get a live training session plus recorded walkthroughs for your team. Editing pages, publishing posts, and swapping images shouldn't require a developer and if it does, we've built it wrong.

Do I own the site?

Completely. The code, the domain, the hosting account, and the analytics are all in your name. Hosting and maintenance with us are optional, not a condition if you leave, you take a working site with you rather than a set of files nobody else can host.

Do you handle hosting?

Yes - managed hosting is available as part of our maintenance plans. It includes automated daily backups, security patching, SSL management, uptime monitoring, and someone to call if something goes down. It's optional, not a requirement - the site is yours to host anywhere you want. Most clients stay because it's one less vendor to manage, but if you already have hosting you're happy with, we'll deploy to it and hand you the keys.

Why does SEO have to be part of the build?

Because URL structure, heading hierarchy, internal linking, and schema are architectural decisions. Adding them afterwards means either rebuilding pages or accepting a compromise. Mapping keywords to the sitemap during wireframing costs nothing extra; fixing it post-launch costs a migration.

What happens if something breaks after launch?

Every launch includes 30 days of hypercare we monitor performance and fix bugs at no cost. After that, maintenance plans cover security patching, backups, updates, and performance monitoring. Plenty of clients handle it themselves, and that's fine.

Will the site work with AI search?

We build with JSON-LD schema and semantic markup so assistants can identify what your business does, where it operates, and what it offers. That doesn't guarantee citation nobody can promise that but a site without structured data is much harder for these systems to use. Related: generative engine optimization.

Do you redesign existing sites or only build new ones?

Both, and a redesign is often the better value you keep the domain authority, the ranking history, and the content that already works. We audit what's performing before touching anything, then map redirects carefully so the rebuild doesn't reset your search visibility.
